I’m Kevin Gossett, and No Good Deed Goes Unpunished is my original blog, started sometime in the year 2000. I can’t pin down the exact date of the first post, since the blog (then called a “weblog”) has existed on so many platforms. The brief platform history:
- Manila, on a Frontier server, hosted free by Dave Winer at Userland.
- Radio, a personal server that hosted the original on my Powerbook, then uploaded to a Radio Userland server
- Weblogger.com - an early GREAT blog-hosting company
- TypePad - Six Apart’s wonderful blogging/hosting service
- Now, WordPress, hosted on my own self-managed server
As you can tell, I like to play with the technology and try new things. All of the above solutions have been great and are highly recommended. I’ve never left one of them for service reasons, just my tech-wanderlust and desire to learn.
Blogging has undergone such changes and real growth over the past 7 years, I feel lucky and blessed to have been in since fairly close to the beginning. At different times, this blog has been linked by A-list bloggers and no matter how much money I make from the monetization of my blog network, that will never match the rush of getting recognized by that community, however humble and minor the attention was.
I’m a career broadcaster, working for the world’s largest broadcaster, living in the desert with wife and son. Today, as I write this, we’re by the pool. And I’m blogging. What’s that tell you?
