Randy Newman at MacWorld
Randy was the entertainment onstage post-Steve. John Mayer performed last year, and was fantastic. Randy Newman though, he’s a classic. In a good way. Here’s one of the songs he did.

He also did “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the Toy Story soundtrack. Again, nice.I’ve got a Randy Newman story. He was the headliner for Morning Show Bootcamp a few years back. MSB is an annual gathering of Morning Radio Talent, put on by Don Anthony at Talentmasters. I’ve been several times, and it’s a great chance to see old friends and hang with those who do what you do. Randy performed at the cocktail party, and though there were chairs setup in a “sit and listen” configuration, a large number of people decided to hang out and talk among themselves, treating Randy like the piano player at..well…a cocktail party. He did a couple songs and stormed out, obviously pissed off.I would have been pissed, too, were I him. I was me, however, and was simply embarrassed. It was very disrespectful and he was great.
