The Fanboy Tax

Well, Steve did it. Went onstage yesterday, introduced a couple new iPods and then, with a dramatic flair…Well, actually almost under his breath, cut the price of the iPhone by $200.

Ouch. Some of the fanboys are pissed.

I paid $599 for mine the day after they came out, but if I’d waited, I could have saved $200 ($300 if I settled for the soon to be defunct 4 gig model). So, I’m a fanboy and I got screwed. Again.

But it’s not that bad. I’m glad I’ve had the iPhone these past few weeks, instead of pining away for it. It’s a nice handheld that I’m glad I bought. After all, I was on vacation when I purchased it, and so had the time to play with it (since I, for a number of reasons both social and medical, don’t lay on the beach soaking up the rays).

But will I be so quick to buy Steve’s stuff on the first day in the future? Don’t think so.

But then, what else could I possibly want now? Sure, some of the fanboys are pissed, but we’re still (for the most part) fanboys.
