What You Really Want

Johnplaceonline has a really sharp post on achieving a life goal, and distills the process down to four steps. Step 2, “One last look before you plunge” is of particular interest, epecially the second question “what investment is required?” In my opinion, that question is the key to achieving any goal you may have.

Wayne Dyer, quoting someone (maybe Zig Zigler) makes this point:

If there’s something you want that’s not currently in your life, it’s missing for one of two reasons.

  • A) You didn’t really want it

  • B) You quibbled over the price

I’ve always believed that principle governs your entire life inventory. If you’re not willing to do what is necessary to achieve the result, you’re not going to get the result - that’s quibbling over the price. As I look back over my life and examine how I accomplished the things I’ve done, that principle is clearly at work in everything I have or don’t have.

If in planning your future, you decide what you really want and are willing to commit to paying the price for those things, you will achieve what you desire.
