The Federal Government Doesn’t Want Your Blackberry Bluetoothed

Except for headsets. According to this (admittedly second-hand and possibly outdated statement) at macintouch:

"There is no OBEX over Bluetooth on any BlackBerry device as of this time. Word on the street is that this is to satisfy RIM’s larger customers, such as the US Federal Government."

Okay, yea, it’s "word on the street," but boy, it has the ring of truth, doesn’t it? Federal employees lose entire LAPTOPS with sensitive data, but my, we can’t have a consumer product that the U.S. Government uses syncing in the wild, now can we?

I just want to be able to sync my Blackberry 8700 to my Powerbook via Bluetooth. That’s all.

At least until the iPhone comes out.
