Flip this Scam

I’ve often felt A&E’s Flip This House is silly and potentially damaging to naive people who think the road to real estate riches is to go out, buy a distressed house, hire some neat guys to fix it up and sell it for big bucks. Oh, and all in about a half hour (hour tops) [...]

Spin Your Voicemail

Jeesh, the future is coming fast, and it’s neat.  Really neat. Spinvox is a new service, currently free and in beta, apparently (what isn’t, in the world of Web 2.0?) that transcribes your voicemails and sends them to you as text. PLUS, they’ve got a service that allows you to blog by phone. You make [...]

Blogging of Historical Importance

Lorelle from Lorelle on WordPress asks: “Who would you like to see blog from history?”
Well, duh! Have to say Claire Booth Luce (after all, this blog IS named “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished”). Can you imagine Ms. Luce’s blog - would it be Dooce crossed with Instapundit?
Oh wait. Think of Wonkette. Maybe she’s back!

No Mo Jericho?

Looks like Jericho won’t be back for another season next year. Fans aren’t taking it lying down.
This is a problem for me, but a problem that I’m sure the market will find a solution for. Jericho’s a great show. There’s suspense, action, an interesting set of stories that arc well. With all the crap the [...]

Does anyone else think this is a really, really bad sign?
NPR : Air Force Prepares [...]

Still a Geek, but that’s GOOD now

Wil Wheaton still feels like the high school geek he was 20 years ago anytime he walks onto a campus. The story of his giving a talk about writing to his kid’s class.
High School kids have a knack for knocking your self-image right in the dirt, especially if you’re thinking you’re thinking you’ve really accomplished [...]

The Federal Government Doesn’t Want Your Blackberry Bluetoothed

Except for headsets. According to this (admittedly second-hand and possibly outdated statement) at macintouch:
"There is no OBEX over Bluetooth on any BlackBerry device as of this time. Word on the street is that this is to satisfy RIM’s larger customers, such as the US Federal Government."
Okay, yea, it’s "word on the street," but boy, it [...]
