9/11: Birth of the Blog
I remember browsing the blogosphere that day, and agree that it was a watershed for blogging. I’d been in it a couple years, and hadn’t seen a lot of growth until 9/11, although the 2000 elections were relatively blog-heavy if you were already aware of the movement.
Went to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to see if they have an archive of my posts that day, but weblog curmudgeon Dave Winer felt the Wayback Machine was hitting his servers too hard, and had a rather large-type response for them. So no archive. But, blog service on Userland’s servers was free, so…
