GMail for Troops
This is a great idea. Google’s new email service (now in beta) is called GMail and it is GREAT. I’m seriously thinking of moving all my personal email traffic to it. It’s fast, sophisticated and powerful. Unfortunately, it’s not publicly available yet, so only lucky invitees can have their GMail account (for now). I bought an invite on eBay for $8 (they’ve gone for as much as $500).
Google is apparently still minting these invitations as they ramp up the service. GMail4Troops is a clearinghouse for people with extra invitations to get them to our troops overseas. These folks, selflessly serving our country can use GMail’s reliability, speed and 1 Gig of storage (for video from home, etc). If you have an extra invite or two, please send it here.
